Why we do what we do
At Black and Yellow Beekeeping, we’re on a mission to save the world—one buzzing bee at a time. Okay, maybe that’s a little dramatic, but hear us out. Bees are the unsung heroes of our environment, tirelessly working to sustain ecosystems and agriculture. And here in the Texas Hill Country, they do more than just make honey—they bring families together, strengthen communities, and help landowners put their acreage to good use.
We created Black and Yellow Beekeeping with a passion for people, nature, and the land we call home. Our goal is to provide organic, sustainable, and rewarding solutions for property owners while protecting the vital role of bees. Whether it’s through expert hive management, high-quality bee products, or hands-on education, we’re here to make beekeeping as natural in the Hill Country as barbecue and bluebonnets. Because when we care for our bees, we’re not just preserving the environment—we’re investing in the future of our families, our neighbors, and the land we love.
Our Mission
At Black and Yellow Beekeeping, our mission is simple: inspire and support sustainable and clean beekeeping practices while helping property owners make the most of their land. Whether it’s through our high-quality products, expert services, or hands-on education, we are committed to fostering thriving bee colonies, preserving biodiversity, and making agricultural and wildlife exemptions as stress-free as possible.

Chief Honey Bear or Grand Pooh-Bear of PollinationMark didn’t choose the bee life; the bee life chose him. A veteran beekeeper with a passion for wildlife and the great outdoors, Mark launched Black and Yellow Beekeeping as a way to bring his love for nature and conservation to the forefront. He’s an encyclopedia of bee knowledge, a master of natural beekeeping, and the kind of guy who can talk about hive dynamics for hours (seriously, just ask him).
After years of boardroom meetings and business strategies, Mark decided he’d rather spend his time tending to bees and helping landowners make the most of their land. Whether he’s relocating a hive, extracting honey, or coaching new beekeepers, Mark is in his element when surrounded by nature. He’s also a family man, dedicated to leaving the land better than he found it—for both his kids and the next generation of Texas bees.

Owner & Chief Buzz OfficerWith a deep love for animals, conservation, and stewardship, he saw an opportunity to make beekeeping a common practice in the Texas Hill Country—one backyard at a time. A big believer in a Creator who designed the natural world with purpose, Matt sees no better example of divine creativity than the inner workings of a beehive.
An entrepreneur at heart, Matt left the tech industry to build businesses that connect people, strengthen communities, and protect the land. When he’s not helping property owners discover the joys of beekeeping, he’s leading OutdoorJack, a full-service home services company that keeps Texas homes and landscapes in top shape. Matt is a proud family man, a community builder, and a firm believer that a little bit of honey makes life a whole lot sweeter.
